April Nagel Offers Tips for Your Job Search in a Down Market Live on CNN.com

(Atlanta, GA) September 21, 2009 – On Friday, September 18, April Nagel, CEO of firstPRO Staffing and Executive Search, appeared live on CNN.com to address concerns about finding a job in a down market. The interview offered insights into the current job market and how it can be a “lagging indicator” as the economy recovers.

“This recession is different than so many others in that it is hit or miss,” Nagel says. “It has hit certain areas heavily and others not at all. If you are an MBA and your job is in tax, you can name your price. If you have an MBA in finance, you may still be struggling. That is what most people find so frustrating.”

Nagel also stressed the importance to going back to school to get more training. She cited IT as the area where people need to educate themselves, particularly in medical equipment. She also named any green initiative as a “big thing” that will emerge from this recession.

“Many people are going to be forced to reinvent themselves because the way we do business as a country is changing,” she says. “But so many fantastic businesses were born out of a recession, so if you ever wanted to be an entrepreneur, now is the time to do it.”
